Our Story

Ventura Mamas started with a simple idea — parenting is better when you have people around you who get it.

Because let’s be honest: it can be beautiful and exhausting and everything in between, sometimes all in the same day. And we truly believe parenting was never meant to be done alone.

We’re building an intentionally inclusive space where local parents can show up as they are, connect, and feel supported — no pressure, no judgment. Whether you’re new to the area or have been here forever, there’s a place for you here.

Most of what we do is simple: meeting up, getting outside, letting the kids play, and having real conversations with other parents who understand this season of life.

At the end of the day, it’s about finding your people — your village.

And we’re really glad you’re here.

Meet Joy & Alex

Ventura Mamas was founded by Alex and Joy, who met in a prenatal yoga class and quickly bonded over the same feeling — parenting felt a lot harder without a community. As working moms at the time, they didn’t have many friends who were parents either, and they knew they couldn’t be the only ones craving connection.

So they started building what they were looking for: a space that felt truly welcoming to everyone - with no barriers, no expectations, and no judgment. Grounded in a shared commitment to inclusion and social justice, Alex and Joy created Ventura Mamas to be a place where all parents can show up exactly as they are.

Come as you are, when you have time — messy hair, running late, and sleep deprived. We’re probably showing up the same way.
